Happy Dance
For Renee, the thought of attending a financial coaching class seemed unnecessary at first. She had been invited several times but always hesitated, assuming it wouldn’t address her urgent and pressing needs. Life had been challenging for Renee, and the hurricane not only left her without power for a week but also caused her septic tank and refrigerator to go on the blink. “It’s just one setback after another. I can’t, for the life of me, get caught up...much less ahead,” Renee shared with her case manager, Shasta, feeling defeated.
That is the point when Renee knew something needed to change and agreed to attend the class—and through it, her perspective was truly transformed. The session not only helped Renee adjust her spending but also introduced her to local resources she never even knew existed. She planned to rent another refrigerator, but through other community resources, Shasta was soon able to find a new one for Renee! Once secured, Shasta called Renee to share this new bit of a surprise, and Renee’s excitement was unmistakable. “I could hear her happy dance through the phone,” Shasta said smiling as she later shared the reaction in a case manager meeting.
Renee completed the entire Crisis Assistance Coaching Program, learning practical strategies to better manage her household budget. She also began consistently coming for her food pickups, which helped stretch her income further. Through Ashure Ministry’s coaching program and crisis assistance services, she not only stabilized her current situation but found hope for the future. “I can’t wait to tell my friends about this program,” she said, eager to share her newfound resources. With God’s guidance and the ministry’s assistance, Renee is now equipped to face life’s challenges with confidence and gratitude.
