Caring Community

In the heart of our small town stands a local, humble convenience store. Its owner, Orlando,* is a man quietly dedicated to this community. He believes in helping others and understands the importance of making all his customers feel welcome. One spring afternoon, Orlando was behind the counter, organizing shelves and attending to customers when a familiar face walked in. It was Karl, our food pantry associate. Orlando recognized Karl as a regular customer, and this day he noticed that Karl was wearing an Ashure Ministry shirt.

Orlando had never heard of Ashure Ministry, and Karl shared more about it, including that he had just come from helping with a food drive another business had hosted for us. Karl added, “On a typical day, the food pantry serves 250 households,” he shared, “Ashure Ministry helps not only with food, but also with rent, mortgage, power, heating, and cooling for those who need assistance.” 

Feeling inspired by Karl's passion and dedication to helping those in need, Orlando offered his support. He asked Karl if he could wait a minute. He grabbed a small box and began filling it with essentials: canned goods, bread, and toiletries. He handed it to Karl, insisting it was a contribution to the cause.

As the conversation continued, Orlando felt a stirring in his heart. He realized that he, too, could play a part in making a difference in his community. After learning more about the ongoing work of Ashure Ministry, Orlando made a decision. He offered to donate food items regularly to support their cause. Additionally, he decided to make a recurring financial gift to ensure that they had the resources needed to continue their mission.
