Faith in the Gap

During a routine appointment, our communications specialist, Kelli, began chatting with Sheila, a friendly receptionist in her doctor’s office. When Kelli mentioned her work with Ashure Ministry, Sheila’s face lit up. She began to share a personal story—one that reminded us why this ministry exists.

Sheila’s son, Jason, is a single father who works hard to provide for his family. Not long ago, he suffered an acute injury that forced him to take time off work. Though his heart was set on returning, his doctor wouldn’t release him. With no income and bills piling up, Jason was slipping into crisis. Sheila did what she could to help, but her resources were limited. Eventually, someone recommended Jason reach out to Ashure Ministry for help with his utility bill. He was hesitant—asking for help didn’t come naturally—but for his family, he walked through our doors anyway.

Jason met with one of our case managers, who immediately made him feel at ease. She reminded him that needing help did not diminish his strength. She explained that this is exactly why Ashure Ministry exists—to walk with people in crisis and offer real and compassionate assistance.

With your generous support, we were able to cover Jason’s past-due power bill. The relief he felt was immediate—and deep. He later told his mom, “I didn’t just feel helped—I felt heard and understood.” The care and respect he received at Ashure Ministry reminded him of God’s love and provision in a very real way.

Jason had recently returned to the Christian faith of his childhood, and Sheila believes this experience only deepened his walk with God. For her, the help her son received didn’t just prevent a utility shut-off—it kept him and his children from sliding into a deeper pit that might have taken much longer to recover from.

Because of you, Jason made it through a tough season. And more than that, his faith was strengthened by the kindness shown to him. Thank you for making moments like this possible—for being a part of stories where crisis turns into hope.
