Recovery

At Ashure Ministry, we are continually amazed at how God works in the lives of those we serve. We know that no one walks through our doors by accident—each person is sent with purpose. And more often than not, it's in the quiet, simple moments that His presence is most deeply felt.

A few weeks ago, Leonard walked into our lobby carrying only what couldn’t be seen—his faith, his determination, and the strength of his recovery. He had recently completed a local recovery program and was stepping into a new season of life, one marked by courage and hope.

He was greeted by Tamara, our intake coordinator, whose warmth and compassion reflect the heart of Christ. As she began his intake, Leonard's gratitude for a fresh start was unmistakable. His joy was quiet but deep, grounded in his belief that God was guiding each step. His faith had grown by leaps and bounds throughout his recovery process.

Then, a moment of connection took both of them by surprise. Leonard paused mid-sentence and asked Tamara her name. “Tamara,” she replied with a smile. His eyes lit up. “Praise the Lord!” he exclaimed. “My counselor’s name was Tamara!”

Tamara smiled wider. “He orders the steps of those who follow Him,” she said softly. Leonard’s eyes filled with tears. “Last night,” he whispered, “someone spoke about recognizing God’s guiding hand, and now I see it here.”

As she finished the process, Tamara handed Leonard a small figurine of Jesus—a simple gift meant to encourage. Leonard held it gently, his voice trembling. “Someone at my last treatment center had one just like this,” he said. “I thought it was such a powerful reminder. Thank you Tamara.”

Moments like this remind us that God’s presence doesn’t always come in grand gestures. Sometimes it looks like a familiar name, a kind word, or a small figurine placed in open hands at just the right time. At Ashure Ministry, we are grateful to witness these holy moments every day—and to be part of the healing work God is doing in the lives of people like Leonard.
