Ongoing Transformation

Tracy is a devoted single mother with tired eyes and a gentle voice that carries both strength and weariness. Years of living with a genetic disease and enduring sixteen surgeries had taken a toll, and with four more ahead, she was unable to work. Her cabinets were empty, her power was close to disconnection, and the weight of it all left her feeling hopeless.

What hurt most was not being able to feed her son. Tracy had taken him to stay with her parents because she did not have enough food at home. That decision alone broke her heart and sent her into a dark place where she began believing her family might be better off without her. That’s when she began considering ending her life.

Before giving up, Tracy made one last call in hope of finding food for her son. “Making that call was incredibly difficult. I had never asked for help before,” she later shared, “but from my first phone call, my heart felt a little less broken.” Tamara could hear the pain Tracy had been carrying and gently encouraged her to come to Ashure Ministry for help.

When Tracy walked in, she immediately began to cry. With gentle encouragement, she shared the deeper struggle. Tamara prayed with her right there during intake, before she ever met with the case manager. “Anxiety was replaced by peace,” Tracy later wrote in her review.

By the time Tracy reached case manager Shasta’s office, she was overwhelmed but no longer felt unseen. “She came in with very little hope,” Shasta said, “and was worried most about feeding her son.” Shasta secured her power assistance and connected her to ongoing support through the food pantry so she would not face food insecurity alone again.

Before Tracy left, the staff gathered to pray with her. She did not walk out remotely feeling the same way she walked in. In her review, Tracy shared,
