A Veteran’s Heart
Patricia, a case manager, immediately felt a connection when she returned Grace’s call to renew her food card. “I’m here to help, Grace,” she replied warmly. As they talked, Patricia learned about Grace’s remarkable life. “I’m a veteran,” Grace shared. Patricia could hear the pride in her voice. “I served in the Army as a registered nurse for 47 years, and then worked at the VA.”
“I’ve been managing ok, and I was hoping not to need to renew this, but I still need a little support,” she said softly, her voice tinged with weariness. Patricia shared with Grace that it was not a problem for her to renew her food card if she still needed help. “I can’t express how thankful I am for this support,” she said. “At this stage of my life, when I thought I had nowhere to turn, Ashure Ministry has truly made a difference.”
As Grace recounted her years of service, her passion and pride shone through. Her stories flowed naturally, each one revealing her dedication and resilience. Patricia listened intently, captivated by Grace’s experiences. As Grace shared memories of the places she had been and the lives she had touched, Patricia heard how the stories evoked such strong emotion in Grace’s voice.
In that moment, Patricia felt a surge of gratitude for the work done through Ashure Ministry. “We are here for you, Grace. You have given so much, and now it is our pleasure to be here for you,” she said, honored to be part of Grace’s journey. As their conversation ended, Grace’s face lit up with a new sense of hope. “I didn’t know where to turn before, but now I feel like I have found the support I need,” she said with a smile in her voice.
Before Grace hung up the phone, Patricia said gently, “Would it be ok If I prayed for you?” she asked. Grace welcomed the opportunity to have time to pray together. After the prayer, Grace was choked up and said, “I am really touched by your kindness. Thank you.”
As they ended the call, Grace had not only renewed her food card, but also gained a heart full of hope. Thanks to you and the generosity of our donors, a real difference was made in Grace’s life. She now saw a brighter path ahead—one where she had renewed confidence God would provide exactly what she needed, allowing her legacy of service to continue inspiring and uplifting others.
