Shining in our December Volunteer Spotlight: Michael Robinson
Michael Robinson is one of Ashure Ministry’s longest-serving volunteers. He’s not exactly sure when he first started—he just knows it’s been about ten years of showing up, helping out, and quietly making a difference. While his schedule has shifted over the years, one thing has remained constant: Michael is here every Monday morning.
When Michael arrives, he has one clear focus—sweets. Each Monday, he takes on the important task of marking donated desserts and bread received from our grocery partners over the weekend. We make sure a cart piled high with boxes is ready and waiting, and Michael gets straight to work. He carefully labels everything and makes sure it’s placed in the coolers, staying until the job is finished.
This behind-the-scenes role makes an enormous difference. Because of Michael’s dedication, we can offer desserts and bread to those we serve as soon as our doors open. Thanks to him, families starting their week with us are greeted not only with essentials, but with a small treat as well.
Volunteers like Michael bring a sense of consistency and calm to our work. We know exactly when he arrives, exactly what he will do, and that the task will be handled thoroughly. That reliability is a tremendous gift to our staff—it is one less thing to worry about, and one more reminder that we are not doing this work alone.
Michael says he looks forward to volunteering because he enjoys being around the people here. He appreciates the chance to get out of the house, stay active, and give back in a meaningful way. He is always greeted with smiles—and he returns them just as freely.
Michael, thank you for nearly a decade of faithful service. We are deeply grateful for the time, care, and commitment you bring to Ashure Ministry and the clients we serve week after week.
