Shining in our October Volunteer Spotlight… Bob & Jeannie Jarrett

Bob and Jeannie Jarrett have been a vital part of Ashure Ministry’s volunteer team for the past three years. Their journey began shortly after Jeannie’s retirement, when they decided to get involved with a ministry that already held deep personal meaning for them.

Their church—St. Paul’s Community Church in Startown—was one of the 15 founding churches that helped launch the Ministry back in 1969. That long-standing connection made Ashure Ministry the natural place for them to serve.

Every Monday morning, you can find Bob and Jeannie in our food pantry, ready to help wherever they’re needed. From bagging groceries and building carts to marking sweets and hauling cardboard, they do it all with a willing spirit. They’re quick to lend a hand, share a smile, and keep things running smoothly for the families we serve.

Over time, the Jarretts have found more than just a volunteer role—they’ve found a community. “Our Monday morning crew feels like family,” Jeannie shared. “We catch up, laugh together, and notice when someone isn’t there. It’s a special bond.” That sense of connection is one of the many reasons they look forward to coming each week.

They also continue to be amazed by the number of volunteers who give their time at Ashure Ministry. “It doesn’t matter how many people are here—there’s always something for everyone to do,” Bob said. “We love seeing how each person’s abilities are put to use, especially the special-needs volunteers who bring such enthusiasm to their work. It’s inspiring to watch.”

For Bob and Jeannie, volunteering is deeply rewarding because they can see firsthand the impact Ashure Ministry makes every day. “The folks who come here get a whole lot more than just a box of food,” Bob added. “They’re cared for—with kindness and respect.”

We’re so grateful for Bob and Jeannie, and for every volunteer who makes this ministry possible. Your time, your compassion, and your commitment keep our mission moving forward. Thank you, Jarretts, for the joy and dedication you bring each week—you are truly part of what makes Ashure Ministry special.
